Author's Note: Written for the "Abduction and kidnaping" prompt from the cliche_bingo challenge.
"What in the world was all that about, Dresden?" Murphy asked to the wizard on the other side of her desk.
"Usual business," he replied smiling sheepishly.
She sighed. "It probably was. We're talking about you after all." A pause. "You're lucky no one is pressing charges."
"Father Forthill is a wonder of common sense."
She stared at him. "And a wonder of persuasion as well, to get his congregation to agree with him after what happened."
"Well, if you ask me, I'd say I was making them a favor. I mean, I got father Forthill three hours late for the wedding, yes, but those were three extra hours for the bride and the groom to think about the step they were going to take and eventually took. If neither ran away after that, I'd say they got a chance to last."
Murphy rolled her eyes. "Why did you kidnap father Forthill in the first place?"
Dresden shifted on his chair. "I didn't kidnap him. Didn't you just say that no one is pressing charges?"
She leaned over him. "Did you or did you not drag him forcefully into that excuse you call a car yesterday morning?"
He raised a finger. "Do not insult the Beetle. And, well, I was sort of in a hurry."
She stared at him. "Why?"
He sighed and took a moment before answering. "Because I found out some Red Court vampires were going to have a pool party with some frat boys."
She blink. "You-- What?"
"What you heard."
"So you had him bless the pool."
"Yep."
There was a long pause.
"Did it work?" she asked.
"Only with the first batch. But that created enough chaos for me to finish it all quickly."
Another pause.
"Dresden, you are unbelievable."
He leaned back on his chair and smiled smugly. "I'm going to take that as a compliment."
