Book meme - Day 02
I've had this open for hours.
Day 02 – A book or series you wish more people were reading and talking about
This is a hard one. Not only because I don't usually read series, but because the serialized stuff I do follow has tended to be successful among my circle of friends and acquittances--to the point I actually take my hints from them most of the time.
But, I think I'm going to go with:
Artemis Fowl
Truth is, I haven't read the whole series. Actually, The Opal Deception was the last one I read. I should fix it, but that's besides the point.
The point is that, when I was reading the first book, I was having lots of fun. But then Butler had his Crowning Moment of Awesome against the troll, and then came the ending and I ended up loving even Artemis. He was so much of a child inside, even if he tried to bury that part of himself. The second book cemented my love for the kid (I have this tendency to like fictional characters I'd love to strangle if I ever met them IRL :D), even though my favorite character is still Butler.
There are many other fun things to like about these books. The very one that made me start reading them was that the fairies had a more advanced technology than humans, when it's always the contrary in the other books that feature them. And I simply adore Foaly, paranoia and all.
Bottom line: I really like them and I think they need more love.
