[Transformers Prime] A Fierce Warrior
Title: A Fierce Warrior
Fandom: Transformers: Prime
Wordcount: ~520
Rating: G
Characters: Megatronus, Orion Pax
Warning(s): Spoilers for the first season finale.
Summary: At first, Megatronus just wanted to help Orion Pax to relax in the best way he knew. It's set in times long past.
Orion was as surprised as Megatronus thought he would be when he asked him to let him train him as a fighter.
"But..." Orion began.
Megatronus put his servo on the other bot's shoulder. "You are always far too concerned about everything, my friend. That is not acceptable. You need to relax from time to time, and this way is as good as any. It will keep your mind focused exclusively on the present, at least while it lasts."
Orion looked too nervous, but Megatronus knew he trusted him.
"Well, Megatronus, if you think it's necessary…"
"In all honesty, it isn't. It's merely a suggestion. Although one I insist upon."
Orion thought about that for a moment. "Perhaps there is no harm in trying…"
Megatronus smiled, pleased. He patted Orion's shoulder again. "Wonderful! I will be expecting you at the arena after your work shift. No one will bother us."
At the appointed time, their first sparring match began. Megatronus went quite soft on his pupil. While strong, as an archivist Orion Pax was unaccustomed to such physical and violent efforts.
Nevertheless, even if in that first match Orion had been thoroughly defeated, in that short exchange Megatronus found a pleasant surprise: despite his extremely pacifist and no-confrontational views, Orion had turned out to have some talent for fighting. And he had the rudiments of a strategist. Megatronus decided right then that he wanted to nurture that talent. It would be something new to bond over with Orion and, who knew, it may come in handy in the future.
"You are doing much better," Megatronus said several training lessons later.
Orion smiled. It took a while, but eventually he ended up having fun in their sparring matches. "Thank you, Megatronus. Specially for being so patient with me."
Megatronus laughed. "Don't underestimate yourself, Orion. I wouldn't have pushed you this far if I didn't think you could do it."
Orion kept on smiling. He was most confident in himself as of late, since he realized on his own he could manage himself during the training. That he was making Megatronus proud. This confidence was slowly beginning to extend to other areas of his life. Even so, Megatronus wouldn't have send Orion to a real fight in the arena. He lacked the intent to hurt anyone, which only meant he'd only end up hurt himself.
"Go get some rest," Megatronus said. "We will speak before the Council in the next solar cycle."
Orion's optics widened even more. "Finally!"
Megatronus nodded. "Indeed. Now go, we will meet in the usual place."
Orion left, and Megatronus knew he'd spend more time rehearsing what he planned to say to the Council than resting, but he thought it wouldn't do any good mention it. Instead, he went again over his own plans. Which, of course, included his pupil.
Having someone as trustworthy as him to guard his back was a good idea. Orion wouldn't hurt anyone on his own volition, but he was loyal and willing to stand by his beliefs. Orion could become a fierce warrior if he found the right cause.
Megatronus was soon to be proved right.
