The Spark grew restless. It had enjoyed its well-earned rest, and its freedom to see how the friends and comrades of the one it'd used to be worked together to rebuild their home planet. But soon it became clear that watching wasn't enough.

The Spark had moved on. Even if the memories still lingered, the one they had belonged to was no more. That long journey had come to an end. Yet, the Spark had been his for a reason, and it wasn't in its nature to remain an observer.

Even so, the Spark didn't dare to ask for anything. But its Creator saw everything. And he knew.

Primus summoned the Spark before him one day. "Cybertron is alive once again thanks to you," he told the Spark, "and the sacrifice you made."

"I only did what was necessary," the Spark replied, humbly. It did not regret its actions. The momentary sadness brought to the friends of the one it'd been was only that: momentary. In the long run, it was for the best.

"You did what was needed, yes. Yet, not many would have agreed to take that path."

The Spark didn't reply. It had faith in others to do the right thing, but asking them to relinquish who they were would not have been fair. As for the Spark, its reasons were more than one.

"Your burden was too heavy," Primus said. "Maybe it still is. The memories remain a part of you, even if the Matrix of Leadership returned to me.

"Yes, I remember." That was all the Spark said, even if Primus was right. The war was over. Primes weren't needed anymore, and that was a relief. Both for itself and for the ones who would've come after him.

Primus made a pause so long the Spark thought it'd been dismissed when he spoke again. "The planet created over Unicron's husk, what do you think of it?"

The Spark floated a little higher and shone a little brighter. "Earth," it began, "is a beautiful planet. Its people are good, courageous and loyal. They are not without their faults, but those who are willing to overcome them are more than enough to compensate for those who are not. They are not unlike us."

"Are they worthy to become allies of Cybertron?"

"Yes," the Spark replied instantly. "They are. But right now they, as a whole, are not prepared to see us as we are. Our existence is one that challenges their minds."

"In that case, we must prepare them."

"Primus?ยท

"Do you love this planet enough to return to it if the opportunity was given to you?"

"Yes."

"Good," Primus replied as if he expected that answer. "I have messengers you don't know about, and now I know what to do with the information they have gathered. Your memories will leave your consciousness and you will go to Earth. You will have a new body; you will be able to exercise influence over it, but in order to inhabit it, you will have to prove you are worthy." Primus' voice softened. "I am sure you will be successful."

The Spark fluttered for a moment. "I don't understand..."

"It is the first step to bridge our worlds and make humans get used to our presence, and an opportunity for you to start again free of your previous burden. Now go with my blessing. My messengers will guide you."

~*~*~

As Primus had promised, the Spark forgot everything about its previous life. The new body wasn't exactly like the one it had before, but it still was all metal and wires. The Spark could act through it, but they didn't belong together. Not yet.

It finally turned on its optics, and the first feeling he experienced was loneliness because a child was about to leave its side.
