Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] allira_dream because I used several quotes she suggested when I was writing this fanfic.

It all began when Tamaki heard on the news about the increasing crime rate around the world; he came into the Club that day claiming he had to hire a bodyguard for Haruhi.

"Thank you, Tamaki-senpai," she said as patiently as she could. "But it'd be bothersome to have a bodyguard at home."

"Yes, there'd be no space for a third person in Haruhi's house," Hikaru said, earning a scolding by the Club's President.

"If you're so worried, we could enroll Haruhi in a martial arts class," Kyouya said.

"We could teach her!" Hunny said. "Right, Takashi?"

"Yes," Mori answered.

"Thank you, Hunny-senpai, Mori-senpai, but I've no time for something like that. Besides, I'll be all right; Tokyo is a very safe city."

"But is really dangerous out there!" Tamaki said. "Have you seen the newspapers recently?" Without waiting for an answer, Tamaki took Kyouya's laptop, logged in to a couple of websites and pointed to the most gruesome articles he could find. "See? See?"

Haruhi sighed. "Those are tabloids, senpai."

"I wouldn't trust a magazine that has a link to 'Did Godzilla tear up the Tokyo Tower?' on the front page either," Kyouya said. But Tamaki didn't seem to pay attention to the main part of his words.

"Our daughter's safety is important, mom!" he screamed.

"I know, dad, but she's right; she's safe here in Tokyo."

"But what if she leaves the city?"

"I don't plan to leave Tokyo any time soon, senpai," Haruhi said, and it was nearly a growl.

"I have an idea," Mori said, suddenly. He got up and walked to the Music Room's door. "I'll be right back," he said to Hunny before leaving.

"Where's Mori-senpai going to?" Kaoru asked.

"Takashi cares about Haruhi," was all Hunny said before going back to his cake.

Mori came back about an hour later, and he didn't return alone; he was holding a leash which was attached to an impressive black and brown dog. "His name is Taro, but you can change it," he said while offering the leash to Haruhi. Seeing the girl hesitated on taking it, Mori added: "He's well trained."

"What am I supposed to do with him?" Haruhi asked.

"He'll take care of you!" Hunny said. "Look!" The little blond moved quickly behind Tamaki and pushed him towards Haruhi; Tamaki had to put his hand on her shoulder in order to avoid falling down on the floor. At the moment, the dog started to bark frantically.

"That's great! Again, milord, again!" the twins yelled, trying to take a livid Tamaki from behind Kyouya.

"I thought you liked dogs, Tamaki," Kyouya said.

"Not when they're trying to eat me, mom," Tamaki whined. Then, he straightened up. "I must try again. We have to become friends, since Taro's going to be my daughter's faithful guard." Tamaki put his best smile, walked two steps forward and reached out to Taro's head. "Here, nice doggy—"

Taro didn't seem much impressed by the Host Club's King's charms; he just barked again and threatened to bite Tamaki's hand off.

"Maybe you should try later," Kyouya said, his arms full with a shaking blond.

The dog did turn out to be a success with the club's customers; they were all delighted at the sight —and later the touch— of Haruhi-kun's new friend. They seemed to be awed at the idea of the frail-looking host handling such a fearsome animal. Yet, it wasn't long until they found out Taro loved cuddles and snacks.

While Haruhi's new guardian was being spoiled, Mori taught the girl all of Taro's commands. It amazed Haruhi to learn that Taro was fully trained in English, French, German and Japanese and had won quite a few obedience contests.

"He must've been very expensive!" she said, blushing.

"He's reliable," Mori said

"And you don't have to worry about that, Haru-chan," Hunny said, trying to prevent her from giving the dog back. "Since Taro-chan belongs to Takashi, he'll buy the food."

Mori nodded.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Music Room, Tamaki, with the Hitachiin brothers's help, was plotting a way to become Taro's friend.

"Oil yourself with this, milord!" Hikaru said, offering Tamaki a suspicious looking bottle.

"What is it?"

"Meat sauce," Kaoru explained. "If you smell like meat, Taro's going to love you until the end of your days."

Tamaki opened the bottle up and sniffed the content. "That could work," he said. And, suddenly, just as he was pouring the sauce on his hands he realised. "YOU TRAITOROUS TWINS!" But they were already far from reach.

Grumbling, Tamaki put the bottle in the nearest table and then looked at the girls pampering Taro. "There has to be a way..." he muttered.

"You could try to offer him some cake," Kyouya said, behind him. "He likes it a lot, but it's worth it. I'll ask Haruhi to bring him from time to time. Fridays would be good, since it's usually our peek—"

"Taro likes cake?" Tamaki asked.

Kyouya nodded. "He's eaten three already."

"He's a Mori-senpai-like dog with a Hunny-senpai-like character! That's my chance!" Tamaki jumped high into the air and left Kyouya wondering if he had checked their first aid kit that week.

Tamaki reappeared not much later with a little bunny puppet on his hand. "Taro! Look what I have here! You like it, don't you? Don't you?" he cooed.

Taro raised his head from the lap he was nested in and sniffed at Tamaki's direction.

"That's it! Good boy!" Tamaki said when he saw the dog's tail wag. "We're friends now, aren't we?"

Taro whimpered and all of the girls went "Aw!"

"It seems like he's managing it," Hunny said.

"I hope so; it won't be good if two of our hosts are in a hostile relationship," Kyouya said.

"Taro's a host now?" Haruhi asked.

"He has a full schedule for the next couple of months," Kyouya answered.

"Go figure," Haruhi sighed.

"Milord is scratching Taro's ears!" Hikaru said, holding his brother's hands.

"He's so brave!" Kaoru said.

"And now Taro-chan is on Tama-chan's lap!" Hunny said.

"He's so cute!" the twins and Hunny chorused.

"Taro won't eat Tamaki-senpai, right?" Haruhi asked to Mori.

"No," he answered; it was only one word, but it was enough to put Haruhi at ease.

"You'll keep Taro-chan, right, Haru-chan?" Hunny asked, somehow making his eyes bigger than they already were.

"I guess I have to," she said, crossing her arms. "But I'm worried about what my dad's going to say."

-

"Ohmy~! What a cute little puppy~!" Ranka yelled as soon as he saw his daughter walking into their house with Taro.

"Puppy?"

Ranka practically jumped over the dog to scratch his belly. "You're so cute! Aren't you? And what a soft fur!"

"I guess that means we can keep him..."

"Where did you find it?"

"He belongs to a friend from school—"

"And that friend asked you to take care of him, right?"

"Yes, but he's going to buy Taro's food."

Ranka stood up and went for his purse. "I'll be right back," he said. "I have to buy him collars and leashes that match with my dresses!"

"Dad..."

"We'll look so daring when we walk together~!"

Haruhi blinked.

"And then, I'll have to ask Kyouya-san for something that belongs to that stupid Host Club President, so I can teach Taro to attack him... Did I say that out loud?" Ranka asked, giggling.

Haruhi sighed deeply. Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to switch to martial arts classes, she thought.

So cute. The dialogues flowed pretty well, and the humor was just the right portion. I can really imagine this happening in the series. LOL. Especially the way Kyouya and Tamaki's mommy/daddy moments. XDDD Poor Tamaki.
...eh what? The dog is now a host. *falls down laughing*

Nice work! Please keep it up!
