Summary: Akamaru is an innocent puppy. Again.
Spoilers: It's set during the time-skip.
Each one of Kakashi's dogs had one free day to do whatever they wanted every two weeks if their master wasn't in the middle of a mission. When said mission took too long for be completed, he made it out for them later by organizing a moon-howling trip.
Every member of the pack knew they could have more if they asked, but they were happy with the way things were. Some of them, even, were contented trailing behind Kakashi all over the village, which actually defied the idea of the free day, but they didn't care. And if they didn't care, Kakashi didn't care and all was well and good.
Pakkun, on the other hand, though he loved his master to bits, he also liked to roam around on his own during the afternoons of his free days, mainly looking for girls to scratch his belly and give him sweets.
Once, while walking by an old street, a shortcut to the pastry shop, the pug found Akamaru in the yard an small, inhabitated house, which had all its doors and windows closed. The enormous pup had his ears up and was watching the place intently. So intently that Pakkun thought it'd be a better idea to go back home as fast as he could. But Akamaru, ears still up, whined loudly and spun around nervously a couple of times before sitting down, again looking at the shack, again whining. Pakkun sighed, cursed his good heart and walked towards Akamaru. “What is it, kid?” he asked.
“My master is in there,” Akamaru said. “He's been there for long and he told me to behave and stay here and it's been too long! And—And the noises! And I don't know what to do!”
Pakkun frowned. That did sound out of the ordinary, but he needed to know more to evaluate the situation; after all, they still were inside Konoha. “Is your master alone?”
“No. He's with his human pack mate, the one who keeps away the fleas.”
That has to be the Aburame boy, Pakkun thought as he nodded.
“What do I do, Pakkun-ojiisan?”
Pakkun growled. “What did you—?” He interrupted himself because the pup had exposed his belly and was flailing and whining. He decided to stick with the matter at hand.“Is anyone else in there?”
Akamaru sat up and shook his head. “No, there's no-one else.”
“Then why are you so worried if your master is with a friend?”
Akamaru lower jaw quivered. “Be—because—! The noises!”
“What noises?”
“Listen, Pakkun-ojiisan! Listen!”
Pakkun walked a little closer to the house and listened. Then he heard them: sighs, moans, grunts. Pakkun got even closer and sniffed, just as a mean of confirmation. Yep, the smell he'd expected was there, no doubt. He went back to Akamaru.
“You see?” Akamaru yelp. “My master told me to stay but then there's that and what do I do?”
Pakkun scratched his head. He hated to be the one to do that sort of things, but there was no other choice if he wanted to calm the pup down. “Listen, kid,” he began, “when two humans love each other very, very much—”
It had to be that precise moment the one Akamaru's master chose to yell, “Let go, you bastard!”
Akamaru froze for a second and then he barked, “Master! My master is in danger! Hang on, master! I'll save you!”
“Kid! Wait!”
Pakkun tried to outrun Akamaru and stop him, but not only the pup had longer legs now, he was driven by loyalty and fear, so he crashed the door long before Pakkun got near to him.
From the inside, two very unclothed and very 'happy-to-see-each-other' young humans were looking at Akamaru in disbelief. They saw how the pup went straight to throw the Aburame boy from the bed and chew the ropes that tied his master to the bed.
A second later, Akamaru's master began to scold the pup for disobeying him and threatened him with lock him up at his house the rest of the month.
Pakkun rubbed his muzzle and turned around. “Next time, I'm staying with Kakashi,” he sighed as he walked away from the crime scene.
