Sobre slash (y los drabbles)
* Slash eliminates Mary Sues, basically. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA*breathes*HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
* Het writers try to make it out to be like a Romance novel. O rly? This statement negates over 90% of the texts on SH.com... you know? I think I can live in that bubble...
* Het tends to attract the younger writers... I know when I started, my very first fanfic was Harry/Hermione, but as I grew older I started realizing the depth in real relationships, and was thus drawn to the more complicated slash. :D I hope that makes sense. No, it doesn't. Do you mean that there's no deep heterosexual relationships out there? Grow more, plz.
* Slash writers think outside of the box, in my experience. Listen, you're not thinking outside the box, you just got a different one. Srsly. Sometimes it's really hard to set up a het pairing, and really easy to go with a slashy one. It's all in the character's dynamics.
* Another reason...this sort of goes along with "thinking outside thebox", but mainstream culture is so bombarded with heterosexual lovestories. I mean, if you aren't willing to follow a het plot line, forget about seeing the vast majority of blockbuster films, television, and published novels and short stories. Slash is comparatively refreshing in that it offers us the opportunity to let a little more"gay" into our lives. ^_~
*HEADDESKHEADDESKHEADDESKHEADDESKHEADDESKHEADDESKHEADDESK* Maybe it's just me, whohates is bored to tears with romance-centric fiction, watches/reads the thing because I enjoy the story that's being telled, and pairs up characters depending on their dynamics, not based on how "pretty" they are. Besides, I take the OTP concept as lightly as possible, and I don't get angry with the author because the canon didn't go my way, mostly because, frankly, my dear, I rarely give a damn about this kinds of things (and because most of the times, for some reason, I actually pick up the author's intention). Yeah, it must be me o.o
*huye*
