Dogs, cats, wolves, and goats, oh my!

  1. Excerpts from a Dog's Daily Diary & a Cat's Daily Diary. In the comments someone said it's an old meme, but it's still made of win.
  2. D'you remember the post I made not-so-long ago about Ray Bradbury's statement on F451? Well, it seems that he 20 years ago had said that the novel was indeed about censorship. As predictable, the good people @ fandom_lounge are wanking about it. :) I'm in there too, second page. Jack Sparrow icon, you can't miss it. :P

The Cycle of LIfe

Only the oldest animals remembered how long It had been since the last time a wolf had set a paw on the forest before this one came, and they claimed those terrifying predators hunted in packs and that it was unusual for one of them to be all alone.

"But he's no alone," a young--practically a baby--squirrel said. "He has a goat friend."

Of course, the squirrel was thoroughly scolded for interrupting an elder, but the mood for the stories from the past had been lost. The animals, then, decided to move on with their meeting. focus on the present, and decide what they were going to do face this new threat.

A sparrow said, "We should stay away from him."

The deers nodded in agreement; that seemed a practical idea, something very easy to do.

"Easy for you," a mouse said, "because you have wings to fly and you have long legs to run as fast as the wind. But what can we do, the little ones with no wings and short legs?"

"Hide away," an owl said. "You're welcome at my tree at any time of day or night."

The mouse frowned. "Hide with you? How foolish do you think I am? You'd eat me as fast as the wolf would."

The owl didn't answer and no-one provided any idea that was better than the sparrow's. Therefore, when the meeting was finally dismissed, they kept "stay away from the wolf" as a motto, and mothers were to pass it to their children.

Time passed and the wolf kept hunting and kept eating those easily distracted and those who weren't fast enough.

And, one day, as it was bound to happen, an scared rabbit found the wolf's weak spot: he would never hunt nearby the goat.

Word spread. "Find the goat," they said, "and you'll be safe."

They were right; the goat was very polite, and his mere presence worked as a charm to keep the wolf's fangs away from their necks.

The wolf kept eating, but less than before and he began to grow thin.

Not much later, as it was also bound to happen, it became a game among the youngsters, to taunt the wolf and then run to the goat.

Of course, there were some clumsier than the others, slower than the others, that only took the stupid challenge because they didn't want to be excluded from their group of friends.

The wolf eventually regained his weight.
