[Fic] Ouran Host Club
Can't sleep, so here's a ficlet.
Based on something Sha and I were talking about yesterday.
Ouran Host Club

Because Of A Kiss That Nearly Was
Haruhi got late for the club session that evening. Nevertheless she'd spoken with Kyouya about it, so it wouldn't be much of a problem.
Or so she thought.
It turned out that there were problems expecting her at the Music Room. Certainly, not problems caused by her, but it didn't matter since she'd have to deal with the aftermath either way.
The first thing she noticed, since it was pretty much obvious, was that there were no customers whatsoever in the club, and that there were half-empty cups and half-eaten cake slices on the tables. Also, the chairs were askew, adding to the mystery.
The second thing Haruhi noticed, because it was unavoidable, was that the other hosts were gathered in a corner, by the windows. Tamaki was sitting down on a sofa, looking quite distressed. Mori and Honey were right next to him, the second making his Usa-chan jump up and down in front of Tamaki's face in an obvious --and unsuccessful-- attempt to cheer him up.
Kyouya and the twins were a little further apart, probably discussing the situation. Or, given the broad range of things that could trigger a spazz in Tamaki, they could be discussing what they'd have for supper.
Sometimes there was no way to know with these people.
Haruhi sighed before approaching.
"I really think you should call psychological help, Kyouya-senpai," Hikaru was saying.
"That won't be necessary," Kyouya answered as he hung up his cellphone. He looked at Tamaki. "He'll be fine; just give him some water and breathing space."
Before she was really sure she wanted to know, Haruhi asked, "What happened?"
She soon regretted it.
Tamaki reacted at the sound of her voice. "Haaaaaaaruuuuuhiiii!" he exclaimed and leaped to cling to her waist. "Were had you been when your father needed you the most, daughter of mine?"
"Senpai!" she tried to pushed him away.
"Show some compassion, Haruhi! Terrible things had just happened!" Tamaki said without letting go.
Haruhi turned to Kyouya, who pushed up his glasses.
Hikaru, holding a small doll, leaned over Tamaki. "Here, milord, tell us where she touched you."
This prompted a response from Tamaki: he let go of Haruhi and began imprecating Hikaru. "That's not-- That was not appropriate, you little--!"
While Kaoru helped Hikaru, Tamaki chased them both, and Honey cheered on them from the top of Mori's shoulders, and after sighing again, Haruhi followed Kyouya to a table a few meters away. They sat down and she waited.
"One of our customers tried to kiss Tamaki," Kyouya said, cutting down to the chase.
Haruhi blinked. "Surely this isn't the first time something like this has happened."
"No, it isn't. But all the other times were first-time customers who either understood with the first warning or didn't bother to come back since the club wasn't what they'd expected."
Haruhi told herself to forget about that last part, for her own mental well-being.
Kyouya continued. "Today, it was an old customer, one of Tamaki's favorites, one of the school's seemingly meekest and harmless girls."
"Well, Tamaki-senpai can be quite..." She paused. The right word was there somewhere, eluding her.
"Encouraging?" Kyouya offered.
That didn't exactly carried on with the feeling of what Haruhi had in mind, but it'd have to do, given that Kyouya kept talking about what had happened. "We banned her for a month."
"So, Tamaki-senpai is like that because his customer was banned for a month?"
Kyouya shook his head. "No. He's upset because she betrayed his trust. Tamaki thinks of all girls as frail and pure damsels incapable of evil." By the way he said that, it was hard to tell if he agreed or not with the club's president. Yet, having had a glance, if brief, of Kyouya's dark side as she had, Haruhi was certain he didn't. She also didn't think he believed all women evil, and it was good to know there was someone level-headed enough to be alert and keep a balance to Tamaki's extremely trusting nature.
"Then, there's no club session today," Haruhi said.
"No, and there will be none until Tamaki feels better. Which could be either tomorrow or the next week."
Oh,well, there was some extra time for Haruhi's studies.
Or so she thought.
"Therefore," Kyouya continued, "we're going to an amusement park the rest of the evening to see if we can snap Tamaki out of his shock and be back to business tomorrow."
Rich bastards.
Kyouya smiled one of his pleasant my-way-or-a-mine-in-a-country-that's-not-even-on-the-map smiles. "If you didn't bring confortable shoes and clothing to school today, we'll be glad to provide you with some."
That was the sound of her debt increasing.
She sighed for the third time in less than ten minutes.
"Yes, senpai," she muttered before standing up and going to change.
That was going to be one day to remember.
As if any other of the days she spent with that bunch of rich kids weren't.
