Being Human 1x04

Uh. [personal profile] beyourwings, [personal profile] comfortingsounds, I think it'll be better if you skip this. >.>;;

________

I'm very confused here. It's like this series can't keep its characters straight.

Mitchell turned a child.

WHAT. THE. HECK.

I mean, he didn't want to turn the nurse Lauren killed in the first episode and that was an adult. Yet, here, he didn't only turn a 12 years old. He offered himself to do it. HE EVEN ASKED FOR PARENTAL CONSENT! wthwthwthwthwth

With all of Mitchell's issues and speeches and humanity and the conclusion back then that the right thing to do was to let the nurse die, it would've been more sensible to take the hard, painful choice and let the child go. What happened to him was an accident! It was no one's but the scriptwriter's fault! Unlike with the nurse, whom Lauren killed to taunt Mitchell.

Now the kid is going to spend the rest of eternity unable to grow up and he'll need to feed on human blood. Is his mother going to let him feed on her? How long is that going to last? It's like Eli from Let Me In all over again only not castrated. (And Eli's guardian when the book begins was an actual pedophile, but that's a different story. Literally. *coughs*)

All of this was so out of character for the Mitchell previous episodes showed it hurt. D|

Lauren took me off my balance too. She's back to be all happy being a vampire when last episode she... well, wasn't. Is she bipolar? All the "help me to stop drinking blood" was an act as I'd ventured? When she was talking to Mitchell she did say, "No tricks. No tears." It could mean that.

*sigh*

There were things I liked. For example, when George dealt with his insecurities actually talking to Nina (obviously, he didn't tell her about being a werewolf, but that's understandable so early in their relationship).[*] And also that he and Mitchell ended up watching a film about a mob chasing a monster. But I'm not sure if those make up for the rest.

[*] ETA. Y'know, scratch that. I just realized that it was Nina talking to George, not otherwise. Now he has her secret and she's as clueless as before about him. *deep sigh*

There's only two episodes left to finish the first season, but I'm not sure if I want to keep watching. D|

I like it better when characters act consistently. :/
