She also forgets that a Mary Sue, and her perfect twin brother Gary Stu, is not defined by being a woman original character, or a male original character, but an original character that warps the story and makes all the canon characters act differently than they would. Also someone (male or female) who is too perfect, too smart, too beautiful, too sexy, too powerful, is going to grate on people, at least on me. I can't stand Wolverine from the X-Men for that very reason. He's TOO perfect, and yes, he's a male.

A lot of people don't like female original characters from the get go because they've been scarred by the perfect self-inserts that really ARE Mary Sues. And some female characters who ARE really decent characters do get a lot of hatred, but not by OMG, opressive men, but by women who are jealous of their being close to their fictional lust object. (Winry from FMA comes to mind right away. Relena from Gundam Wing too, but she DID sort of suck, but so does Hero.)

And she focuses on Hermione but forgets all about characters like McGonagall, who you mentioned, Ginny Weasley, Molly Weasley, Tonks etc.

Eowyn is possibly one of the best female role-models, I think. Like you mentioned, she ignored her.

I don't like Elizabeth not because she's strong and daring but because every male in the movies is in love with her in the second movie. Jack. Norrington. Will. I liked it better when Will was her only love interest and Jack and Anna Maria had that weird flirty thing going on, and it would be beautiful if she wound up alone and Will hooked up with Tia Dalma. XD Or she can have Will and Anna Maria can come back for Jack and crazy scruffed up drunk Norrington can have Tia Dalma. XD
