Yo lo sé, fui lurker en innumerable cantidad de foros back in the day. o.o

She also forgets that a Mary Sue, and her perfect twin brother Gary Stu, is not defined by being a woman original character, or a male original character, but an original character that warps the story and makes all the canon characters act differently than they would. Also someone (male or female) who is too perfect, too smart, too beautiful, too sexy, too powerful, is going to grate on people, at least on me. I can't stand Wolverine from the X-Men for that very reason. He's TOO perfect, and yes, he's a male.

A lot of people don't like female original characters from the get go because they've been scarred by the perfect self-inserts that really ARE Mary Sues. And some female characters who ARE really decent characters do get a lot of hatred, but not by OMG, opressive men, but by women who are jealous of their being close to their fictional lust object. (Winry from FMA comes to mind right away. Relena from Gundam Wing too, but she DID sort of suck, but so does Hero.)

And she focuses on Hermione but forgets all about characters like McGonagall, who you mentioned, Ginny Weasley, Molly Weasley, Tonks etc.

Eowyn is possibly one of the best female role-models, I think. Like you mentioned, she ignored her.

I don't like Elizabeth not because she's strong and daring but because every male in the movies is in love with her in the second movie. Jack. Norrington. Will. I liked it better when Will was her only love interest and Jack and Anna Maria had that weird flirty thing going on, and it would be beautiful if she wound up alone and Will hooked up with Tia Dalma. XD Or she can have Will and Anna Maria can come back for Jack and crazy scruffed up drunk Norrington can have Tia Dalma. XD

Elizabeth can join Ana Maria's 'Girl's Only' Pirate crew >D

First time i have heard him described as "too perfect" o.o

He NEVER loses. The freaking Hulk tears him in half and he recovers. He beat the DCU's Lobo in a fight, but that was more of a popularity contest. He's just... too bad ass for me. There's no real weaknesses there, and everyone's afraid of him, and it annoys me.

Well his principal mutant power IS fast healing, but on the other hand he has been controlled and manipulated by like half the Marvel universe (so he is not infallible). Also his love interests are not returned, or he had to kill them, or they betrayed him. He is not really that powerful (he is not even omega) but he is really resistant, so he gives a good fight, I think that's part of his attractiveness to both readers and writers, they have someone who is capable of beating almost impossible odds but he has to really make an effort to do it.

I doubt she knows what a MarySue is.

Also someone (male or female) who is too perfect, too smart, too beautiful, too sexy, too powerful, is going to grate on people

That's the problem with the Sues and Stus, they're too good to be true, and solve anything just by wiggling their eyebrows. And, if there's not an interesting conflict, there's no story, thus whatever is told becomes a bore, to say the least. IMO, anyway. :P

Winry from FMA comes to mind right away
People call her a Mary Sue? O.o;; Last I knew, she was bitched about because she hits Ed.
*takes Winry away from the crazy*

And she focuses on Hermione but forgets all about characters like McGonagall, who you mentioned, Ginny Weasley, Molly Weasley, Tonks etc.
Yes! There's a lot of worthwhile women in the HP series, and all she can think about is Hermione, Hermione, and Hermione. Not that I don't like her, she's a great character, but she's not the non-plus-ultra of both maturity and erudition. Specially when compared with Dumbledore.

Eowyn is possibly one of the best female role-models, I think.
I absolutely adore Éowyn. *_* I've loved her since the first time I read LOTR. And I'm really happy that PJ and his team didn't "ruin" her character like they did with Faramir's >.>;;

I don't like Elizabeth not because she's strong and daring but because every male in the movies is in love with her in the second movie.
I'm not sure about that. I mean, I think Will does love her, but Norrington, though he did like her in the first movie, is already over her in the second. He left her --along with the others-- to her own devices when he took the heart away.
As for Jack... well, I think he lusts after her, but there's no love. Jack's too full of himself to love any person but himself, IMNSHO.

Or she can have Will and Anna Maria can come back for Jack and crazy scruffed up drunk Norrington can have Tia Dalma. XD
That'd be the best solution ever! X3333
