  1. Did you know there are too many parallels between Oedipus and Túrin Turambar? Srsly! Túrin doesn't kill his dad, but he kills his friend; he doesn't marry his mother, but his sister, who in turn kills herself when she finds out, and... well, you get the idea. Really, you get it! I'm giving it to you for free! I just want it away from me, plz! =D
  2. I know someone who talks and keeps his mouth open just like Napoleon Dynamite. That scares me.
  3. We have a lovely, tl;dr, patronizing troll at fw_esp. The arguments and logic over there are awesome. ♥

I actually liked The Children of Hurin more than I did Lord of the Rings, because I think while LotR is an epic a la the Illyad, CoH is a tragedy like Oedipus or Medea. While Turin, Morwen and Nienor were cursed, in the end it was their own choices and arrogance that did them in, their unwillingness to listen to other people and consider they might be wrong, in other words, that ever classical hubris that causes nearly every tragic hero's fall.

I haven't read The Children of Hurin; I was just randomly remembering The Silmarillion while in a boring class and how, back in the day, I used to get into long debates with a friend about who was a more tragic figure, whether Túrin or Gollum. ^^U

Just like Oedipus, who, trying to avoid the prophesy, ran away from the house he'd been raised in and made it all happen. When you're doomed, you're DOOMED.

Well, como le dije al troll, estoy desde hace casi nueve años en el fandom (y tengo dieciocho) así que puedo competir con mucha gente en el campo de "En mis tiempos...". XDDDDD

1. I haven't read that one yet. XD I was just randomly remembering The Silmarillion while in a boring class. My brain randomly did the rest. :P
3. What's alive? The troll or the comm? Oo;;

1. Classes tend to randomize brains, in my experience.
3. The comm. XDDD I mean, it's all grown up now! Former wankers, trolls!!!

Heck, yeah. We were in the 20th Century Mexican Literature talking about Church and State and power struggles, and I ended up remembering the Blackadder episode in which Edmund is appointed as the Archbishop of Canterbury.
