Day 07 – Least favorite plot device employed by way too many books you actually enjoyed otherwise

Uh. I think that's got to be when romance overshadows the actual plot, when everything has to include romance for be of any worth, even when it wasn't necessary at all. Sometimes, romance--and the human connection it entails--adds depth, but most of the time it's handled very badly and just included there for the sake of drama or to prevent a reading of the character as non-heterosexual, which doesn't usually work, heh, ugh.

Also, the Everyone Must Hook Up With Everybody Else irritates me so, specially when it's a Last Minute Hook Up and there's no build up whatsoever to it.

That applies to all media, not just books, btw.

Totalmente de acuerdo contigo. Aunque ahora me pregunto: ¿qué libros/películas, a tu parecer, manejaron romance bien?

Acá tengo un post de hace siglos donde menciono algunos libros en que me gusta cómo está el romance. También me gusta en la historia dentro de la historia de Jojo de Michael Ende, aunque como se plantea en teoría no debería gustarme, PERO EL CONTEXTO D': También la pareja de chicas en Tomates verdes fritos (no recuerdo los nombres :'D), en Inkworld me encantan Mo/Resa y Dustfinger/Roxanne. Um. Buttercup/Westley en The Princess Bride, Lír/Amalthea(el unicornio) y Schmendrick/Molly en The Last Unicorn, Percy/Annabeth en Percy Jackson, Harry/Susan en The Dresden Files (no digo Harry/Murphy porque no es oficial, aunque los adoro). Iba a poner otro, pero pasó una peregrinación religiosa enfrente de mi casa y me distraje y ya no me acuerdo. :'D

Películas... Um. Carl/Ellie de Up, Wall-E/Eva en Wall-E... Um. Se me dificulta más recordar parejas que me hayan impresionado/marcado. Será por lo corto del medio, idk, porque con anime me es más fácil (Tanda/Balsa de Seirei no Moribito, Blue/Physis de Terra E, Mei/Gabu de Arashi no Yoru ni [que sí, es una película pero es demasiado cute, shh], Fakir/Pato y Mytho/Rue de Princess Tutu, Kenshin/Kaoru en Ruroni Kenshin [aunque ahí soy más fan del manga]).

Series de televisión es mucho más difícil porque definitivamente no las veo por el romance. XD; Por ejemplo, no tengo problemas con cómo sacaron el Arthur/Gwen en la serie de la BBC porque yo la veo más que nada por los silly shenanigans del cast. :x

Los que sí me tienen toda idiota son Chuck y Ned de Pushing Daisies, más ahora que la estoy re-viendo en maratón. Son azucarados y rosas y mushy y todo lo que por lo general no soporto PERO LOS AMO TANTO DDD'X /rueda

Wow, interesante y en muchos casos estoy de acuerdo contigo. Lo de Arthur/Gwen no me gustó porque me estaba gustando antes de que lo forzaran.

Quería ver Pushing Daisies pero se me fueron un poco las ganas luego de que la serie fuera cancelada. Supongo que ahora sí podría verla :o

A mí me gustaban más las interacciones entre Gwen y Morgana y Gwen y Merlín, y creo que Gwen/Lancelot tiene más bases, pero... silly shenanigans ftw :x

Al final, PD terminó con 22 capítulos, así que no es mucho anyway.

Ahora sí me llegó o/;;

Sí, a mí me gustaban más esas interacciones también, y una de las razones por las que me disgustó Arthur/Gwen fue porque se fueron perdiendo =/

Yo no he visto nada (prefiero esperar a que salga), pero Nina me dijo que a Arthur lo transforman en burro. Y yo en lo primero en que pensé fue en esto :B (que es ultralol y lo recomiendo si no lo has leído xp)

No sé si se consigan allá, pero acá la edición de "Sepan Cuantos..." de Editorial Porrúa son muy baratas. En dado caso, El asno de oro es el número 284, y viene junto con Dafnis y Cloe, una novelita pastoral muy moe. /promoción
