Random Ramblings

Sort of because Just a Pilgrim, now I'm reading Preacher. 30 issues (out of 66) in, I can say I'm enjoying it far to much. I also feel like it should be a guilty pleasure, but it isn't. o.o

This comic doesn't only acknowledge that it is irreverent, heretic, offensive and gross. It embraces it. Here's a... uh, 'nice' summary from issue 27. It only leaves out brainwashing, child abuse and domestic violence because that character wasn't around for that flashaback. Yet, the plot is quite interesting and the premise very simple enough: this is just a man's (literal) quest for God.

I love the twists, even though they can be very absurd at times, and I love how things get so over the top that you can't help but laugh. And I love how it just keeps breaking my heart now and then.


In a different note, I'm also watching (FINALLY) Kyou Kara Maou's third season. And, due peer presure from countlessuntruths, I started the fourth Percy Jackson book even though I still don't have the last one. :|

I'm actually a little uncomfortable with all of that because I like it better when I'm only reading/watching only one thing at a time from end to finish. Otherwise it tends to be likely that I drop something. There's a reason I like it better when the stuff I'm reading and watching is either finished or the author has announced they have an idea of how long it's going to be. Like Arakawa, who, as I understand it, said Fullmetal Alchemist was going to take around 100 chapters and she's finishing it next month with 108. Or Jim Butcher, who said The Dresden Files are going to be like 20 books and an apocalyptic trilogy.

The conclusion I've drawn from all of that is that I'm odd. And that I should be focusing on the prompts I claimed from SPK.

A la película Daybreakers le pusieron La hermandad acá, cambio que por una vez fue más o menos adecuado, aunque dudo que el responsable haya tenido las mismas razones que yo para pensarlo. También dudo que la película me hubiera parecido la mitad de graciosa emocionante de no haber sido por The Dresden Files.

La acción de Daybreakers sucede 20 minutes into the future en el año 2019, cuando la Corte Roja ganó la guerra el 95% de la humanidad se ha convertido en vampiros y el 5% restante está prófugo y escondiéndose porque si los atrapan, los meten a una granja humana en que los mantienen en una semi-vida para drenarlos de sangre.

Como el suministro de sangre humana está por agotarse, y el no consumirla hace que los vampiros se degeneren hasta quedar como monstruos mutantes murciélagos sin funciones cerebrales superiores, se está tratando de encontrar una sangre sintética para sacar al mercado salvarlos a todos.

Ahora, sobre el título del post: el protagonista es uno de los hematólogos investigadores responsables de encontrar la sangre sintética, y es un vampiro renuente que fue convertido a traición, que es obvio que siente mucha pena por los humanos en la granja y que, para el comienzo de la película, ya mostraba los primeros signos de la mutación. ¿Su nombre? Edward. |'D

Por otro lado, los vampiros explotan cuando les encajan estacas. Rule of Cool ftw.


Como nota al margen: realmente curioso que me haya topado con la película sólo un par de días después de haber donado sangre. XD

Compré Juego de tronos. Viene en dos volúmenes *rueeeeeda* Yo sabía que había una razón por la que no había leído el ebook además de que es épicamente largo y que tiene una letra que se me dificulta leer, y es que mi destino era encontrarla en físico. Srlsy I kid you not.

Pero antes debo de leer Dead Beat. Ya todo mundo me pasó. 8(((( Y es que yo necesito darle un descanso a mi Harry mental antes de volver a meterlo a la rueda del hámster *le da una almendra*

La peor parte es que me da flojera seguir Vampiratas. D8 Los ninja resultaron ser la cosa más lame ever (al menos en la película de Speed Racer hubo lampshade hanging: "Ahora cualquiera es ninja estos días" ftw) y acá sigue sin pasar nada realmente. Bueno, no, por ahí de la página 150 por fin Grace se encontró con el capitán pirata vampiro.
