alcesverdes: Soapbox (Pushing Daisies - Chuck's books)

I signed up to [personal profile] spook_me asking to write vampires in the Pushing Daisies-verse. |'DD (HALP)

Day 29 - Saddest character death OR best/most satisfying character death (or both)

I do have an answer for this one. It's a character dead quite sad but also very satisfying because of the way it's written. So, it hurt, but it hurt good. |DDDD

Spoilers for Inkspell.

Like last entry, rinse and repeat.

Day 20 – Favorite kiss

Since, I've said previously, romance tends to bore me, and therefore it's absolutely not why I read anything, well... I can only remember two kisses in particular o.O: Westley and Buttercup in The Princess Bride and [Spoilers]Percy and Annabeth in The Last Olympian, because it's recent and [Spoiler]I found it amusing that it was underwater, because it was so fitting. :p[/spoilers]

Day 21 – Favorite romantic/sexual relationship (including asexual romantic relationships)

...Huh... See the answer above. I do ship stuff, but I don't recall any particular pairing. Although I'm tempted to say Mo/Dustfinger just to troll the meme. xp

alcesverdes: This book is love <3 (I <3 this book)
I got caught up in other things yesterday and I forgot about the meme. |D

But, before, because it's totally relevant: I can't wait until Reckless comes out! ILU Fondo de Cultura Económica for not being as expensive as Siruela when you co-edit and for keeping the nice layouts. ♥ They changed translators, though. I really liked the other one, but let's see what happens.

Also, I saw Kiki's Delivery Service this morning. It's so, so beautiful and heartwarming. ♥ ♥ ♥ I absolutely loved it.

And I'm two episodes shy of finishing the second season of Pushing Daisies. I sort of don't want to see them because that'd mean there would be no more to watch. :| That idea makes me a very sad panda, even though I'm glad the series didn't grow into a cow that couldn't be milked anymore. That would've made me even a sadder panda. I love all those quirky characters just too much.

Day 18 – Favorite beginning scene in a book

The first one that comes to mind is:
Inkheart

Because it begins with a house full of books and two people who love them. And it shows!

Day 19 – Favorite book cover (bonus points for posting an image!)

Can I cheat? Can I? :D?
Well, self, since you've done it before, I don't think there'd be a problem if you do it again.
Gee, thanks self, because even if I'm not sure they're my favorites, the covers of the three Inkworld books by FCE-Siruela are far to pretty and it actually looks like the illustrator read them before starting their work!
You're welcome, self. Now, go post them.

And here they are:

Inkheart/Corazón de tinta )

Inkblood/Sangre de tinta )

Inkdeath/Muerte de tinta )

Yes, I do love these books so much. What in the world gave me away?

Day 06 – Favorite book of your favorite series OR your favorite book of all time

Isn't the option b) of the question pretty much the a) option of Day 04? Anyway, I'm going to answer a) here since I answered b) there.

So, my favorite book of the Inkworld trilogy is:

Inkheart

Because it got me hooked to this world. Because it introduces characters that are amazing and so much bigger than life. Because in the very first paragraph in the very first chapter there's a very explicit and obvious love for books. Because Mo and Meggie's house is full of books and books and there are pile of them everywhere. Because Elinor's library is the best thing ever. Because the first time Dustfinger plays with fire on screen is there and it's beautiful, even though fire and books shouldn't mix. /trouts Basta and Capricorn.

I love Inkblood and Inkdeath too, but Inkheart is the one that fills me with the most sense of wonder.

Day 04 – Your favorite book or series ever

So many difficult questions. D: I should stop thinking so much about them and just go (keep going) with the first one that pops to my mind when I read them. It'd make my life easier. XD

So, here we go:

Inkworld

The first work by Cornelia Funke I ever read (I even have the first one signed eeee ♥), and now I have a handful others, including a picture book about a luck fairy, which are quite good, but Inkworld is just that amazing.

I love books about books and Inkworld is very meta. The world within the world is magnificent and the characters are so vivid. It's fun how all the good guys love books while the bad guys don't and only the smarter ones about them only get interested in them when they realize books can be useful. Also, this justifies the elaborated speeches by practically everyone, and all the quoting and referencing they go around doing.

And the first time firebending Dustfinger's work with fire is described is beautiful. *__*

Also, I want a personal library like Elinor's someday. /rolls around

ETA Suddenly, I want to do this meme with high-brow stuff to make myself look "intellectual" instead of answering with titles I do like. XD
I think I'll do that version in one post when I'm officially done with this, just for fun.
